00:32:26 Devta (DAVE-tuh) Kidd - Dir. of Innovation: This is the Lidar technology that Ron is talking about where the City was able to classify all the sidewalks and pavement all at once: https://bloomington.in.gov/success/2018/12/31/4340 00:40:07 Thomas Doak: Thanks! 00:41:30 Steve: Steve Layman Arden Place 00:41:58 cathbrow@iu.edu: Cathy Brown The Woodlands 00:55:07 elm heights: ron: severe, long-standing stormwater drainage issues exist in elm heights, too. 00:55:25 Mark Stosberg phone: The City recently approved 50 million for parking garages. We have money for transportation but sidewalks are not the priority. 00:56:37 Mark Stosberg phone: Objectively Bryan Park ranks high for sidewalks. Few sidewalks but good “walk potential” or nearby places to walk to. 01:00:49 Mark Stosberg phone: I can go over what some of the criteria are. 01:03:15 Thomas Doak: Sorry that I need to go; this has been useful! 01:09:09 Mark Stosberg phone: On the Bike/Ped Commission we heard from the City staff they were trying to get rid of sidewalk-to-nowhere requirement. 01:13:56 Mark Stosberg phone: From being on bike/ped commission, traffic calming costs 1/10th of sidewalks 01:15:02 Jon Lawrence: Relevant to Peter Dorfman’s comment about sidewalks. The city makes people do sidewalks in front of new development (without providing storm sewer) regardless of whether there are sidewalks on either side. Yet the city won’t pour sidewalk without storm sewer. The idea of requiring people to pour these sidewalks is to connect to future sidewalks. Yet, if these future sidewalks actually appear, there will have to be storm sewers therefore the city will have to tear out the sidewalks that the city required the person to pour. 01:26:09 cathbrow@iu.edu: if you don’t have a current question, could you lower your hand. 01:30:20 Devta (DAVE-tuh) Kidd - Dir. of Innovation: I don’t have a question, but I want to make sure that you all know that the City has a cross-departmental group exploring how to make the creation and maintenance of sidewalks more sustainable and equitable. See: https://bloomington.in.gov/innovate/2022-sidewalks You can find my contact info there if you would like be notified of opportunities to provide input. 01:33:40 Mark Stosberg phone: The multi-use paths come out of a different pot of money unrelated to the Sidewalk Committee 01:34:56 Paul Ash: Multiuse paths are usually asphalt with no curbs with stormwater under it while the sidewalks are cement with curbs along with stormwater access under the curb. 01:35:40 Steve: Hopefully trees will be next month. Aran, thanks for bringing it up. We actually thought about having Both tonight. It was a Bad idea. 01:35:45 Natalia Galvan: Jan- add it to the list, right?! 🤣 01:37:33 Devta (DAVE-tuh) Kidd - Dir. of Innovation: Thanks everyone!!! 01:39:07 marycatherinecarmichael: I’m happy to offer a Hopewell update for the June meeting if that is of interest to folks!
